& CONDITIONS

- Before registering for any of the Entrance
Proficiency Test (EPT), applicants are required to ascertain their eligibility. Please

- Starting in April 2004,
we have introduced a
Component System
where you will be able to register for
the test you did not do well in. For example, if you passed
your oral proficiency test but failed your written test, you
only need to sign up for the written component, with a registration
fee of S$37.00 for your next attempt. All previous
attempts before March 2000 will not be valid under the new
system.
- After completing the
registration form, you must send payment for the precise amount, S$ 74.00 per test (Oral
AND Written)
OR
S$ 37.00 (EITHER Oral
OR
Written) to RELC stating your name, NRIC / Passport number,
contact number and for which Language(s) you have registered
for the EPT. Payments received without
the stated information will be rejected. Payments received
after the closing date for registration will be rejected also.
Payments
must reach RELC within THREE (3) working days from the date
of registration and MUST be BEFORE the registration deadline.
Failure to do so will result in your application being cancelled
and you will have to re-register.
- Methods of payment accepted are as follows;
- Payment by bank draft
should be made payable to RELC Examinations Bureau
and payable in Singapore.
- Personal cheques must
be crossed and made payable to RELC Examinations Bureau.
Indicate behind the cheque your NAME, NRIC and CONTACT NUMBER.
RELC Examinations Bureau will impose a S$ 20.00 surcharge
on each dishonoured / returned cheque.
- Only cash payment will
be accepted if made in person at the RELC Examinations Bureau
counter of RELC building.
- Those submitting their forms by post must ensure that
the bank draft / cheque for the correct amount is enclosed.
- The EPT Registration
fees are non-refundable upon booking of the test dates. No
refund of payment will be given to candidates who registered
for but were absent or withdrew from the test(s).
- Passing the EPT
does not necessarily mean that your application for admission
is successful. Admission to NIE is also dependent on other
factors including meeting the entry requirements.

Registration will be
acknowledged with an official receipt when payment has been
made. Notification of test date, time and venue will be
sent to applicants 1 - 2 weeks prior to the test.
- MODIFICATIONS TO SERVICE
- RELC Examinations Bureau
reserves the right at any time to modify the information and
materials without prior notice.

ON EPT (FOR LANGUAGES)

ENGLISH EPT
The test comprises two parts:
Part 1 involves a test of oral proficiency;
it requires candidates to read a passage aloud and to deliver a short speech without notes
on a given topic. Candidates will be given a few minutes to preview the reading passage
and to prepare for the talk.
Part 2 requires candidates to take a
listening comprehension test. This is followed by a test of knowledge of grammar and
vocabulary usage and stylistic features of the language. Candidates will also be tested on
reading comprehension.
CHINESE / MALAY / TAMIL EPT
The test comprises two parts:
Part 1 involves a test of oral proficiency;
it requires candidates to read a passage aloud and to deliver a short speech without notes
on a given topic. Candidates will be given a few minutes to preview the reading passage
and to prepare for the talk.
Part 2 involves a test of knowledge of
grammar and vocabulary usage and stylistic features of the language. Candidates will also
be tested on reading comprehension.
